Sherlock watches your product stream like a hawk and thanks to Chemical Imaging Technology (CIT®) is able to detect the smallest deterioration in quality as well as any foreign bodies. Analysis of the entire near infrared spectrum allows the chemical composition of objects to be analyzed in‑line and in real time, irrespective of color, shape, surface or specific weight, and dealt with on the spot. In combination with the Safeguard Drop Gates, this function makes the Sherlock Observer the most reliable solution for detecting and removing foreign bodies across the whole of food processing. All types of foreign bodies, whether they are wood, hard plastic, soft plastic, film, rubber, stone, glass, metal, insects, animal bodies, twigs, stalks, fragments of stone and much more are safely separated from acceptable products on the basis of chemical composition. As a general rule, the system only needs to be programed to recognize acceptable products. The Sherlock Observer can also integrate all the functions of the Sherlock Food Analyser and so ensure you have valuable quality data on your incoming and outgoing goods; it can also be used for in‑line process control (e.g. dry matter measurement, measurement of fat content or rancidity).

Safeguard Drop Gate System
The Insort Safeguard Drop Gate System enables you to permanently divert your acceptable product stream. Foreign bodies are dropped down through a trapdoor. No active mechanical touch needs to be applied to foreign bodies to remove them from the product stream, which guarantees that removal is highly reliable. Difficult objects such as large or heavy stones or metal parts, and very light parts such as plastic film, cardboard and paper are also removed reliably. Neighboring flaps are automatically deployed where objects overlap more than one area.
