R&D ENGINEER – SENSOR TECHNOLOGY (M/F/X)
Insort is developing and manufacturing highly innovative sensor-based and customized sorting and monitoring equipment for the international food processing industry. Our developments open new unimagined possibilities for food safety and quality control in the food processing industry. Headquartered in Austria, Europe with a US sales and service subsidiary based in Turlock, California.
We provide an exciting and challenging task in an innovative and fast-growing company with high-tech products. You have the possibility to grow with our company and you will be a key part of our efforts and success in North America.
After a training period where you will be trained on our technology and sorting machines both in our Turlock office and at our customers‘ sites, you will be substantially involved in the development of our sensor-based sorting solutions.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Calibration, mechanical adjustment and control of image sensors and sorting machines
- Independent setting-up and operating of the in-house test devices for customer provided product testing and live demonstrations
- Creation of models and color classifications with internal application software
- Service equipment of our customers in California as well as other states from time to time
- Write comprehensive test, demo, performance evaluations and service reports.
- Provide technical feedback on new developments and existing equipment in the field
- Executing operator training plans and training new and experienced customers on Insort’s sorting and monitoring equipment
- Remote customer support and troubleshooting
- Supporting our field service engineers in on site commissioning of our machines
- R&D work for new applications and testing of new features prior to field approval
ABOUT YOU
- Extensive work experience in equipment manufacturing, field service, optical sorting, or nut processing
- Technical education (Colleague or University degree) considered an asset
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, charts, and electrical code specifications
- High level understanding of IT connectivity and troubleshooting
- Experience writing service, customer, and technical documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Confront challenges with a problem-solving mindset, having high quality standards considering your work
- Prioritizes requests and tasks while troubleshooting conflicts with little guidance

TRAVEL
Willingness to travel 25% of the time for installations and service in California and other states from time to time. Occasional travel to Europe for training purposes.
ABOUT OUR BENEFITS
- 40 hours / week
- Monday-Friday, schedule will be flexible (typically between 8am-6pm)
NOTES
Overtime required; weekend work required from time to time.
SALARY
Total compensation approx. $ 85-100,000.00 / year
VACATION TIME
15 x 8 hours = 3 weeks
